SCHOOL PATCHES

A GREAT DEAL OF THOUGHT HAS GONE INTO THE CREATION AND DESIGN OF OUR DRAGON KIDO AUTHENTIC MARTIAL ARTS PATCH.  TO US, IT IS MUCH MORE THAN MERELY A DECORATIVE ACCENT TO BE PLACED UPON OUR DRESS UNIFORMS.  ALL ACADEMY MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO STUDY THE PHILOSOPHIES EMBODIED BY THIS OFFICIAL INSIGNIA TO GAIN A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE ESSENTIAL LIFE SKILLS THAT OUR SCHOOL SEEKS TO HELP EACH STUDENT ACHIEVE.

Kido the dragon, surrounds our Academy's "Character to the Core" triple-tiered synergy swirl graphic, which represents the past, present & future--emphasizing that character development is an ongoing process and positively affects the individual, the community and the world-at-large.

Our school badge's tri-colored background of red, blue and gold also signifies the mental, physical & spiritual components of martial arts training and the importance of pursuing balance in one's life.

Lastly, in the Asian culture, the dragon image symbolizes heaven, and for Dragon Kido practitioners, this meaning extends to the pursuit of lofty goals, such as striving to attain martial arts excellence, which necessarily includes willingly providing service to others.

OUR ACADEMY, THROUGH GRANDMASTER HUTSON'S FELLOWSHIP WITH BLACK BELT MASTERS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, PROUDLY BELONGS TO THE BROTHERHOOD OF MARTIAL ARTISTS.  THE FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF SYNOPSIS OF OUR BOMA PATCH: 

The fingers of the left palm represent the four nurturing elements:  Virtue, Wisdom, Health and Excellence, which encompass the universal spirit of martial arts.  The left thumb is slightly bent to imply one should never be arrogant or self-centered. 

Conversely, the right hand stands for rigorous practice and is clenched in a fist to symbolize attack, while the left, being righteous and disciplined, serves to restrain it, creating balance. 

The Yin Yang image in the background further suggests that these forces are not opposing, but rather complementary, and form a dynamic system where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.  Similarly, practitioners from different disciplines form lasting alliances with one another, leading to a synergistic brotherhood of martial artists that spans the globe.
